Honda’s Dani Pedrosa has a good reason to smile after qualifying on the front row of the German GP on Sunday. If he didn’t manage to secure the Honda double with his team-mates Marc Marquez and Danilo Petrucci having invited between the two riders, he believes however to have a good card to play on last Sunday’s competition.
“Of course I’m happy, because both wet and dry, we’ve done well,” Pedrosa said to media. “Last week, it was a lot more complicated especially under the same qualifying conditions. Compared to yesterday (Saturday), I was better on the wet. I’m really happy to be on the front line. It’s very important here, because the first corner is very tight.
The good performance of his bike, also third in the dry track on Saturday, under all conditions is undoubtedly an important source of confidence. What to approach serenely this ninth race the season, while weather looks dubious.
“We have to see how it is tomorrow (Sunday),” Pedrosa said. “If it’s dry, it’s very good because we’ve been working on the set-up at this level, and if it’s wet, it’s the same, even if the rain is strange here.
“A lot of water in very few minutes, but at the same time, when it stops raining, it dries very quickly, the conditions could quickly change in the race, so we have to be ready for all conditions at least we are quick in the both cases.

While Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi, well aware of the unpredictability of the various events this year. The Italian is doubtless in the best position (ninth) to see that no one should be denigrated in the race for the final victory, he relaunched the general after his success in Assen GP last weekend.
“I think Pedrosa’s situation is symptomatic of this championship,” Rossi said. “Before Assen I was fifth at 28 points and Pedrosa was in front of me. Pedrosa seems to have come out of the game, but that’s not true.
“In Assen, he was not comfortable with the bike, but this weekend he could be one of our main rivals because he is still able to be very strong on the Sachsenring, we should not forget it, because it is 28 points, and that’s just a little more than one race.” Rossi added.
