Top rank F1 racer Nico Rosberg will travel from his hometown in Monaco to Monza for another race next weekend following a controversial win at the Belgian Grand Prix. The best racer is set to prove himself to the public once again, show the world what he has in totality. Although there have been many criticisms online and in paper, he continues to practice for the upcoming race without doubting himself.
Key facts about Nico Rosberg:
- He wasn’t expected to excel in F1 – Raised in Monaco, Rosberg was encouraged to chase his leisure pursuits and later on become a pro-tennis player.
- He began a race addict at a young age – At 11, he began karting and in 2002, he joined the German Formula BMW where he finished first for nine times in his first season as a racer. When he was 17, he happened to be the youngest F1 racer as he was given an assessment with Williams. After driving for his father’s team, he pursued his racing career in 2005 in preference to getting a degree in Aeronautics in London.
- He defeated an F1 legend – In 2010, Brawn GP recognized his incredible talent and listed him as one of their pro-drivers. It was in this year that he overshadowed his then teammate, the great Michael Schumacher. For years of beating Schumacher, he was left to compete with teammate Lewis Hamilton.
For German F1 critics, the six-figure fine that was imposed by Mercedes subsequent to the collision with teammate Lewis Hamilton during the second lap is not that big of a punishment. They view Rosberg as a multi-millionaire making a contribution to charitable institutions out of a small portion of his huge paycheck.
On the other hand, Max Mosley, the former head of motor racing’s administration thinks otherwise. The former FIA president believes that what Mercedes gave Rosberg as a consequence was not right. He believes Rosberg was disfavored out of the second lap crash, making Hamilton unsuccessful of claiming the victory. He stated that he wouldn’t let such act happen if he still had the authority to have a say on that incident.
Many onlookers have proposed that the FIA also look into both Hamilton and Rosberg as they clearly sparred against each other to become triumphant in Les Combes. In a closed-door meeting of the drivers and their big bosses, there were suggestions of Rosberg yielding his position and being banned from the race. However, Wolff clarified that hearsay and said that they would not interfere on those two opposing drivers as they were just battling to finish first.
As of the moment, Nico Rosberg remains unshackled on the number one spot although he is under scrutiny of the public eye. He believes that he will still prevail in the races to come and eventually clear his name out of the judgment he is currently facing in his racing career. For us to know if he truly deserves the cup or the six-digit fine, we’ll just have to wait and see the results of seven more F1 races.
