Wayne Rooney looks forward to returning to Man United

England boss Gareth Southgate has decided that Wayne Rooney will join and wear the number 10 jersey for his farewell game against United States at Wembley Stadium on Thursday night.

Rooney returned to the British football and also made many Manchester United fans feel. However, he has explained the decision why he left the club 18 months ago when interviewed by Manchester United TV.

“Of course I will miss Manchester United. It is the most exciting part of my career to play for Manchester United. I have been working there for a long time.” Rooney said.

“But the timing of my departure is on right time. I can’t play often at that time. This is the most important. I have always been a player who wants to play. I also talked to the coach. It seems that I have few opportunities. So for me, leaving is the right decision.

“Of course I want to stay in Manchester United. I ended my career at Manchester United. That is the most ideal situation. But football has changed, things are changing, and there are reasons.” Rooney added.

The DC United striker struggled to nail down a regular starting berth during Jose Mourinho first season at Old Trafford, and says the lack of opportunities left him with little choice than to move on.

His last match on behalf of the Red Devil was the UEFA Cup final, and United defeated Ajax to win. The 33-year-old player said that he was actually very sorry, because the last battle at United was not played at Old Trafford.

“If it is at Old Trafford, I will go back there a few times. I will be back during Christmas and watch a game.” Rooney said.

“I have left a lot of good memories. I had a new opportunity to go and play in the States. I had a great time at United, though, and again I am looking forward to going back and seeing a few of my team-mates, and a few friends from the staff who I have made along the way.

“Manchester United fans also very good. When Christmas is over, it will be good to see some familiar faces.” Rooney added.

In total, former United’s captain has won 12 major trophies at United and he was twice the recipient of the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year.
