Uruguay beat Chile 1-0 in the last match of Group C Copa America 2019 at the Maracana Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, Tuesday (25/6).
These results make Uruguay out as group winners by collecting seven points. While Chile finished as runners-up with six points.
In this fight, the two teams appeared aggressive because they were both eyeing a positive result to win the group. As a result, the match took place in a high and hard tempo.
Chile, which relies on duo Alexis Sanchez and Eduardo Vargas, often presents a threat through their movements. On the other hand, Uruguay still have difficulty breaking into the Chile goal even though Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani have repeatedly tried to get into the penalty box.
Chile had given a threat through the opportunities obtained by Pablo Hernandez but still sideways from the goal. While Uruguay can get a chance through Martin Caceres who is still thin on the right side of the goal. 0-0 score lasted until the first half ended.

With this result, Uruguay advanced to the quarter-finals as group winners after sweeping the group stage, while Chile had to be satisfied with the runner-up status.
Uruguay teams scored a new history in the Copa America 2019. They not only overthrew the defending champions Chile to qualify for the quarter-finals. Uruguay teams are listed as the first country to perform 200 times in prestigious competitions in Latin America.
In other matches, Ecuador drew 1-1 against Japan at the Mineirao Stadium, Belo Horizonte. Japan took the lead in this match through Shoya Nakajima’s goal in the 15th minute. However, Ecuador could reply thanks to Angel Mena’s goal in the 35th minute. This draw did not have much effect for both teams. Japan and Ecuador have been confirmed to drop out of group stage before the final group game.
