English Premier League: Manchester City Fail to Win at Newcastle Headquarters

Manchester City had to settle for a 2-2 draw when away to Newcastle United, St. James Park in the Premier League match on Saturday (11/30).

Manchester City have excelled in terms of possession since the beginning of the game. Notably, they have mastered by 85 percent possession of the ball in the first 15 minutes of the match.

Manchester City won 1-0 in the 22nd minute through Raheem Sterling’s goal. This goal stems from the penetration of David Silva into the Newcastle penalty box.

David Silva’s movement was stopped by Newcastle defenders. The ball hit Sterling and then returned to David Silva.

David Silva then gives a heel back to Sterling. Sterling receives the ball and shoots towards the far post. The ball failed to reach by Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and the score was changed to 1-0.

Manchester City’s excitement lasted only three minutes. Jetro Williams successfully equalized in the 25th minute. A 1-1 draw lasted until the first half ended.

In the second half, Manchester City struggled to score the second goal. Pep Guardiola made a number of changes including by including Philip Foden and Bernardo Silva in the final 20 minutes of the match.

In the 82nd minute, Kevin De Bruyne successfully thrilled the Newcastle goal. De Bruyne fired hard from outside the penalty box after receiving a wild ball.

The ball rolled hard into the right corner of Newcastle’s goal without being driven by Dubravka.

But again Manchester City’s superiority did not last long. In the 88th minute, Jonjo Shelvey managed to score an equalizing position. Score 2-2 last until the end of the game. In the final minutes of the match, Sterling failed to maximize the golden opportunity that he got thanks to the brilliant action of Martin Dubravka.

Man City is actually able to control the ball pretty well. Manchester City even recorded doing ball possession up to 77%. Not only that, they also managed to open fire 24 times

This amount is quite significant compared to the opponent who is only able to open fire six times and only able to control the ball as much as 23%. However, luck does not seem to have sided with Man City until finally they have to be willing to share numbers in this match.

With this result, Manchester City has fallen further behind rivals Liverpool who are top of the English Premier League. Meanwhile, the Magpies moved up to 12th in the standings.
