Premier League Results: Leicester Keep Distance with Liverpool

After defeating Aston Villa 1-4, Leicester City successfully kept their points distance from the top of the Premier League, Liverpool.

The Foxes is now Liverpool’s closest competitor in the hunt for the Premier League title. Brendan Rodgers’ squad collected 38 points or eight points behind Liverpool.

While Manchester City stuck in third place with 32 points after suffering a painful defeat from Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday (7/12).

Leicester’s status as a dark horse team has now become a serious rival for Liverpool. Jamie Vardy et al continued to achieve positive results, including beating the host Aston Villa at Villa Park Stadium.

This season, Vardy has proven himself to be one of the best strikers in the Premier League. He managed to contribute two goals against Aston Villa.

The 32-year-old bomber broke Leicester’s deadlock in the 20th minute and became a teammate’s moral whistle. Got a breakthrough bait from Kelechi Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy successfully fooled Tom Heaton and Ezri Konsa before struck the ball into the Villa goal.

Kelechi Iheanacho also managed to double Leicester’s lead in the 41st minute before Jack Grealish reduced the position to 1-2 in injury time in the first half.

Entering the second half, Leicester increasingly dominant. Johny Evans widened Leicester’s lead when the second half entered the fourth minute. Vardy then gave Leicester a 4-1 lead in the 75th minute as well as being the sweet closing goal in Birmingham.

The day before Liverpool beat Bournemouth 3-0 while Manchester City were beaten 1-2 by Manchester United and Chelsea were beaten by Everton 1-3.

With 38 points, Leicester City keep a distance of 8 points from Liverpool (46) and began a significant lead over Manchester City (32) and Chelsea (29).

3 points at Villa Park is the 8th consecutive win obtained by Leicester City in the Premier League.

The Foxes have always won since being defeated by Liverpool 1-2 on 5 October 2019.

Successive Brendan Rodgers’ team defeated Burnley 2-1, Southampton 9-0, Crystal Palace 2-0, Arsenal 2-0, Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0, Everton 2-1, Watford 2-0 and Aston Villa 4-1.

Eight consecutive wins marked the success of Jamie Vardy always scored.

Vardy scored a total of 11 goals in 8 matches and he now tops the list of 2019-2020 Premier League top scorers with a total of 16 goals.

Vardy is now chasing his own record, which has been recorded scored in 11 consecutive matches when bringing Leicester City to win the Premier League 2015-2016.
