Leicester City Lose from Norwich City on Carrow Road

Leicester City were forced to accept a 1-0 defeat to Norwich City in the Premier League match that took place at Carrow Road on Saturday (29/2).

Leicester City’s defeat makes the club’s position in the top four of the Premier League standings this season to be threatened. Leicester City is overshadowed by Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham below.

Norwich fielded the core players in this match. Teemu Pukki, Emiliano Buendia, Ondrej Duda, and Todd Cantwell up front. Alexander Tettey and Kenny McLean in the middle, covering the back line led by Grant Hanley and Ben Godfrey.

Leicester also do the same. Kelechi Iheanacho up front, flanked by James Maddison and Dennis Praet in the second line. Hamza Choudhury in the middle, guarding the defense led by Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans.

Leicester who travel to Carrow Road started the game quite well, successfully threatening the opponent’s goal several times. Had made an opportunity in the 22nd minute, but was successfully countered by the Krul Team.

Norwich then tried to retaliate and almost scored several times, but countered by Leicester.

Until the end of the first half, both teams were equally unable to realize the chance to score a goal and the game was temporarily closed with 0-0.

When the second half began, Leicester seemed to increase attacks on the Norwich defense. But the home team’s defense was apparently strong enough to drive the visitors.

Leicester had almost broken into the Norwich goal in the 65th minute through Maddison’s shot. But the Krul keeper can still save the goal.

Luck sided with Norwich in the 71st minute. Max Aarons cross which was continued by Jamal Lewis managed to penetrate the defense of Leicester goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel.

Left behind by one point, Leicester are starting to go offensive. Obligation to catch up makes them suppress the Norwich defense more aggressively. They also include Marc Albrighton as an additional force on the front lines.

Not only by entering Albrighton, Leicester began to press further into the Norwich defense. Soyuncu and Evans are even closer to the Norwich penalty area.

On the other hand, Norwich began to survive more. A reasonable choice indeed, considering they are now in a superior situation. If they play open, it will open a gap that can be used by Leicester.

Leicester City continue to attack in the remaining time of the second half. However, they failed to create an equalizer. As a result, the score 1-0 for the superiority of Norwich City lasted until the fight was complete.

Despite winning, Norwich has not moved from the position of a Premier League caretaker with a score of 21 points. On the other hand, this defeat also makes Leicester stuck in third place with 50 points.
