Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is without any doubt among the three best players currently, and as long as Lionel Messi stays in Barcelona.
Neymar left Messi’s shaow when he departed Barca in world record move to Paris in 2017. The Brazilian is nearing the end of his second season at PSG.
When asked about former his teammate Messi, Neymar became an emotional affair for him in an interview for Brazilian television.
“Honestly, it’s difficult, very difficult for me to talk about Messi, because it was very special for me at Barcelona, I say this to everybody,” Neymar said.
“At the moment when I need the most support, the best player in the world arrived and gave me a hand. He said: ‘Come here, I’m here to help you. Don’t be shy and don’t be afraid of anyone at the club.’” Neymar added.
PSG insisted they will not sell Neymar in next summer transfer window amid Barcelona interest. The 26-year-old striker has been linked with a move away from Paris after featuring playing the second season.
Messi on the other hand, thinks it will be complicated how former his teammate would leave Paris des Princes in next summer.
“We would love him to come back, as a player and for the dressing room. We’re friends. We had some good experiences together and others not so much. But PSG are not going to let Neymar walk way.” Messi said.
During his time at Barcelona, Neymar was part of a similarly potent front line that also contained Messi and Luis Suarez. He scored 105 goals in 186 games and became regarded to be the third greatest striker in the world after Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Neymar is currently recovering from a left hamstring injury, the same injury which cost him much of the second half of last season.
