Premier League Player sees Liverpool close to winning

Watford striker, Troy Deeney, said that Liverpool deserved to win the Premier League this season, but the corona virus pandemic reduced the value of the success of the Reds.

Deeney applause Liverpool’s ability to perform well this season and thinks Jurgen Klopp’s men should have won the Premier League trophy if the competition didn’t stop in the middle of the road.

“When talking about integrity this season, it’s gone. I feel sorry for Liverpool because they deserve to win the league. They deserve a trophy,” Deeney was quoted by CNN as saying.

“No matter what the outcome is, even if we finish all the matches, this will be a year overshadowed by a pandemic. This is not the year Liverpool win the league to be the best team and you know they have been waiting for this for 30 years,” he continued.

Deeney likened a season affected by a corona virus pandemic such as a marathon which was stopped for two months and then the sprinters were invited to fight sprints to finish the race.

“I feel sorry for Liverpool and their players as well as Jordan [Henderson, captain of Liverpool], but in terms of integrity, it’s impossible for you to say this is a worthy competition,” Deeney said.

Before the corona virus pandemic stopped the Premier League competition, Liverpool were the strongest candidates for champions. Merseyside Red leads 25 points over its closest competitor, Manchester City.

After 30 years never being the king of local competition, Liverpool actually only need six more points to ensure the first title in the era of Premier League competition.

Liverpool also almost set a record without losing this season, but Deeney and colleagues made Liverpool defeat 0-3 in February.

Tottenham Hotspur’s main goalkeeper Hugo Lloris said Liverpool should have been crowned English Premier League champions, if it turns out the famous soccer competition in the United Kingdom failed to continue for the rest of the season.

Former Newcastle United player Michael Chopra hopes the corona virus does not affect the English League. The reason, he was sorry for Liverpool if it was postponed.
For him, this season will be a great history in the progress of Liverpool in the English League. The Reds have a great chance of becoming Premier League champions for the first time.

The last time Liverpool won domestic competition was in 1990. But at that time the competition was still called First division before England entered the Premier League era.
