Gattuso’s Message to Pirlo, The New Juventus Coach

Juventus finally officially appointed Andrea Pirlo as the new coach for the 2020-2021 season. The news reached the ears of his former teammate and friend, Gennaro Gattuso. With a little joking, Rhino admitted that he was happy to hear the happy news.

As is known, Juventus dismissed Maurizio Sarri from his position after the match against Olympique Lyon, Saturday, August 8, 2020, WIB. Juventus management immediately moved quickly in finding a new coach considering their very tight preparation for the 2020-2021 season.

A number of names are associated with the hot seat at Juventus. Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane, and Simone Inzaghi are said to be being approached. However, the Old Lady actually appointed Andrea Pirlo, who a week earlier was appointed as the U-23 coach.

The news finally reached Gennaro Gattuso after the match between Barcelona vs Napoli. Even though his team had just been eliminated, the Italian man could still joke. According to him, Andrea Pirlo was lucky to make his coaching debut with a big team.

“He’s so messed up right now. It’s part of the job. He is very lucky to have started his career at Juventus, “said Gennaro Gattuso in a joking tone, as quoted by the Italian Football, Sunday (9/8/2020).

“A career as a brilliant footballer is not enough for this profession. You have to study, work hard, and you won’t sleep well, ”continued the 42-year-old man.

Gennaro Gattuso clearly understands the pressure as a coach at a big club. He had experienced it himself when he was entrusted with managing AC Milan in 2017-2019. He admitted that he could not only learn from books, but had to really work hard.

“Being a player and a coach are different things. It’s a different profession and we can’t just learn from books. We have to really work hard. This is a different world, “concluded the former AC Milan midfielder.

Andrea Pirlo tied Juventus as a coach on a two-year contract. That means, the man born in Brescia will be a tactician until the end of the 2022 season. The former central midfielder will have a tough task to bring Juventus to glory in Europe.

Longing for a throne in the Champions League is very natural for a club as big as Juventus. The reason is, they last won the 1995-1996 season. With a long experience as a player, Andrea Pirlo is expected to be able to bring his club to glory.
