UFC 257 Result: McGregor Loses TKO to Poirier in Round 2

Dustin Poirier won by TKO in the second round over Conor McGregor in UFC 257 at the Etihad Arena, Sunday (24/1).

Poirier was declared a TKO win over McGregor in the UFC 257 lightweight duel in Abu Dhabi. Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight when the second round lasted 2 minutes and 32 seconds.

McGregor appeared more aggressive in the first round. McGregor’s hooks and shoulder strikes several times injure Poirier.

McGregor immediately tried to pressure Poirier. With a calm motion and trying to steal a clear shot, McGregor continued to chase Poirier.

Poirier then attempted a bottom fight by knocking McGregor down after 30 seconds. McGregor manages to get up and unleashes a shoulder strike that makes Donald Cerrone surrender. The fight then went on grappling for two minutes, but McGregor managed to break free.

Poirier took several shots and dodged, worried about McGregor’s punches. At one point, Poirier taunted McGregor for his hook not being on target. At the end of the first round Poirier fired several times to injure McGregor’s leg.

Poirier attempts to attack with a number of kicks. Poirier also forced a ground fighting early in the first round, but failed to produce any results.

McGregor remained calm and chased down the one shot needed to knock Poirier apart. Meanwhile, Poirier seemed to continue taking one punch and dodging, as well as launching a kick at McGregor’s leg.

McGregor’s legs began to look red and sore midway through the second round. Poirier took advantage of this condition to throw a left hook which made McGregor stagger.

Seeing a golden opportunity in sight, Poirier then launched a combination of punches. McGregor struggled to dodge and hit the punch. However, a Poirier right hook made McGregor burn.

Poirier released several punches again until referee Herb Dean declared Poirier to win by TKO when the second round lasted 2 minutes and 32 seconds.

This victory made the score of Poirier’s meeting against McGregor to 1-1. In September 2014, McGregor won by TKO first round over Poirier in a featherweight duel.

This condition was maximized by Poirier to release a combination of punches to McGregor until referee Herb Dean declared Poirier to win by TKO when the second round lasted 2 minutes 32 seconds.
