Premier League Results: Man City Beat Wolves 4-1

Manchester City managed to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers with a score of 4-1 in the Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium, Wednesday (3/30).

Manchester City received fierce resistance from Wolves from the start of the game. However, ‘The Citizens’ could at least smile because they were able to end the first half with a 1-0 advantage.

Man City’s only goal in the first half came from Leander Dendoncker’s own goal. Dendoncker missed the ball and instead sent it into the net himself.

Towards the end of the first half, Aymeric Laporte also managed to vibrate the Wolves goal. However, the goal was not approved by VAR because Laporte was in an offside position.

Entering the second half, Man City returned to dominance through ball possession, but it was Wolves who could equalize to 1-1. Wolves defender Conor Coady was able to send the ball into the Man City goal with a header from a cross from Joao Moutinho.

After the 1-1 draw, Man City tried to dismantle the tightness of Wolves’ defense. This effort only materialized in the 80th minute through Gabriel Jesus.

When the match entered the 90th minute, Riyad Mahrez finally locked victory for Man City. Taking advantage of Wolves’ back line error, Riyad Mahrez fired a low shot that could not be reached by Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Gabriel Jesus then increased Man City’s lead to 4-1 in injury time. Jesus took advantage of a wild ball shot from Ilkay Gundogan which was blocked by Patricio.

Referee Chris Kavanagh had declared the goal invalid because of offside. But after seeing VAR’s observation, Jesus’ goal was approved because he was not in an offside position.

The match ended with a score of 4-1 for Manchester City.

These results make Manchester City have incised 28 consecutive matches without defeat in all competitions, while recording 21 consecutive wins in the Premier League.

This victory also further strengthened Pep Guardiola’s team’s position at the top of the Premier League standings with a collection of 65 points or 15 points ahead of Manchester United below.

As for Wolverhampton, this defeat kept them in 12th place with a collection of 34 points and only one point difference from Crystal Palace below.
