Without Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus Lost 0-1 to Atalanta

Juventus against Atalanta in Week 31 of the Italian League 2020-2021. The match took place at Atalanta’s home, Atleti Azzurri d’Italia Stadium, Sunday (18/4/2021).

Juventus came as the seed to Atalanta’s home even without Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the match did not go easy for the Bianconeri – the nickname Juventus. Juventus even conceded a goal at the end of the match so that they lost 0-1 by Atalanta.

Juventus started the first half well. However, Atalanta was slowly able to keep up with Andrea Pirlo’s troops so that the match became even more fierce.

Juventus got the first chance in the 16th minute through Federico Chiesa’s kick from outside the Atalanta penalty box. However, Chiesa’s kick ball was wide of the host’s goal.

Atalanta responded in the 24th minute through cooperation between Luis Muriel and Matteo Pessina. The last name kicked off, but Matthijs De Ligt was able to anticipate it well.

After 10 minutes, Alvaro Morata almost gave Juventus the lead after an error in the Atalanta defense. Even so, Morata’s kick was swept away by Berat Djimsiti right at the Atalanta goal line. As a result, until the first half ended, Juventus and Atalanta failed to score.

The second half didn’t go well for Juventus. Atalanta had more possession of the ball at the start of the second half so that they were free to press the Bianconeri defense.

Muriel almost found the Juventus goal in the 59th minute, but his shot went wide. After that, Duvan Zapata’s effort to open Atalanta’s tap in the 70th minute also failed.

Atalanta’s effort paid off in the 87th minute through Ruslan Malinovskiy’s strike. The goal came from a brilliant save by Juventus goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, against Malinovskiy’s free kick which resulted in a corner.

A corner was taken quickly, then Josip Ilicic sent the ball into the Juventus penalty box which Malinovskiy greeted. The goal at the end of the match made Juventus lose 0-1 at Atalanta.
