Daria Kasatkina, a Russian tennis player, has made it to the fourth final of the 2021 season at the Silicon Valley Classic, San Jose.

Faced with first-seeded Elise Mertens in the semifinals of the Silicon Valley Classics, the fourth-seeded looked stunning as she won 6-3, 6-2.

The world number 31 needed just 81 minutes to silence Belgian Mertens, so she now has three wins from four meetings with the Belgian.

The match proved to be a remarkable result for the Russian during the 2021 season as it was the fourth seed’s 30th win of the season.

Thanks to this achievement, the former world number 10 saw himself climbing from 71 in the world at the start of the season to returning to the top 35.

This season, he has even bagged two titles – his first since the 2018 season – at the Philip Island Trophy, Melbourne and St. Petersburg.

The Russian claimed her fourth win over a top 20 player of the season by breaking world number 17 Mertens on three occasions, while she herself did not lose her serve throughout.

Kasatkina finished the match with 22 winners and 11 unforced errors, while Mertens hit 20 winners but made 25 unforced errors, including seven double fouls.

“Even with two sets, I felt it was quite a high-intensity match,” said Daria Kasatkina.

“I’m happy to finish in two sets, because I used up quite a lot of energy in the previous matches and it was important to play this match as short as possible. I’m glad I could do it.”

The host tennis player, Danielle Rose Collins will face Kasatkina for the Silicon Valley Classic title this season.

Like the Russian tennis player, the seventh seed, Rose Collins looked stunning when she defeated Croatian Ana Konjuh with a landslide result 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals of the Silicon Valley Classic.

Collins took control of the return by winning 94 percent of points from Konjuh’s second serve and converting six of the nine break point opportunities he created. He also produced 18 winners by committing nine unforced errors.

World number 36 Rose Collins is heating up after recently winning the first WTA singles tournament title of her career in Palermo. Having never made it to the finals of a singles WTA tournament before appearing in Palermo, the hosts are now on their way to two finals in a row after a dominant 52-minute win over Konjuh.
