Juventus managed to beat Roma with a score of 1-0 in the 2021/2022 Italian League continued match which was held at the Juventus Stadium, Sunday (17/10).
Juventus’ only goal in this match was scored by Moise Kean in the 16th minute and gave the Bianconeri a 1-0 lead.
Acting as a guest team, AS Roma appeared more attacking since the first half had just begun. The result, in the 6th minute, AS Roma had a slick opportunity through the action of Gianluca Mancini. Receiving feedback from a freekick from Lorenzo Pellegrini, Mancini released a header that led right into the Juventus goal.
Luckily for Juventus, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was still able to fend off the ball from Mancini’s header.
The fun of attacking, AS Roma conceded first in the 16th minute through the action of Moise Kean. Receiving a cross from Mattia De Sciglio, Kean beat Matias Vina and Roger Ibanez in an aerial duel. The ball which was headed by Rodrigo Bentancur then hit Kean’s head and went smoothly into Rui Patricio’s goal.
The goal also brought Juventus 1-0 up over AS Roma in the first round.
AS Roma continued their efforts to equalize after conceding by Kean’s goal in the first half.
In the 31st minute, Stephan El Shaarawy, who came on in the 26th minute for Nicolo’ Zaniolo through injury, fired a right-footed shot across the ground from outside the box. However, El Shaarawy’s kick ball was still too weak and was able to be caught by Szczesny.
AS Roma again endangered the Juventus goal in the 37th minute through their sole striker, Tammy Abraham. Receiving a cross from Matias Vina, Abraham fired a header towards the Juventus goal. However, Abraham’s header was not strong enough and Szczesny was able to catch it well.
AS Roma had high hopes for an equalizer in the 44th minute after receiving a penalty. Szczesny was caught on camera committing a foul on Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the forbidden box.
However, Jordan Veretout, who was assigned as an executioner, failed to carry out his duties properly. Veretout’s kick ball was also successfully pushed over by Szczesny and AS Roma did not manage to equalize.
The first half ended, the temporary score was 1-0 for Juventus’ advantage over AS Roma.
After halftime, Juventus appeared more ferocious than the first half. In the 48th minute, Rui Patricio almost made a fatal blunder after securing Federico Bernardeschi’s overhead kick.
The ball that should have been able to be caught by Patricio instead slipped and fell at the feet of Moise Kean. Luckily for AS Roma, Kean’s shot in front of an empty goal still bounced high over Patricio’s crossbar.
AS Roma almost got another penalty in the 54th minute after Giorgio Chiellini was suspected of a foul on Lorenzo Pellegrini. However, after being re-checked through the video assistant referee (VAR), Chiellini did not appear to have done anything against Pellegrini.
AS Roma again endangered the Juventus goal in their attempt to equalize in the second half.
In the 66th minute, Jose Mourinho’s team got a slick opportunity through placing Jordan Veretout’s kick from outside the penalty box.
However, Veretout’s kick ball was still slightly off the left side of the Juventus goal.
In order to equalize in the second half, Jose Mourinho added to AS Roma’s pounding power by entering Eldor Shomurudov in the 81st minute to replace Jordan Veretout.
However, Mourinho’s efforts were not effective and AS Roma still lost 0-1 to Juventus.
With this narrow victory over AS Roma, Juventus managed to move up three positions to seventh with a collection of 14 points from eight matches.
While AS Roma is still entrenched in fourth position with a collection of 15 points from eight matches.
