The jargon attached to Juventus “fino alla fine (until the end)” was actually realized at the Stadio Olimpico. In the span of seven minutes, Juventus managed to turn a 1-3 into a 4-3 advantage! Juve still managed to seal the victory even though they played with 10 men since the 81st minute and suffered a penalty.
Juventus were outnumbered when Matthijs de Ligt received a second yellow card after being caught touching the ball with his hands in the penalty box in the 81st minute. Roma’s penalty did not turn into a goal after Lorenzo Pellegrini’s raw kick in the hands of Wojciech Szczesny.
Senior Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, who came on from the 82nd minute to replace Paulo Dybala, was very proud of the victory over Roma. “This is Juve’s DNA. Do not ever give up!” Chiellini wrote on Instagram. “Great win today at the Olimpico, now heading into the Supercoppa.”
The epic revival at home to Roma could be a good trigger for Juventus to win their first trophy of the season. That opportunity appeared in the Supercoppa Italiana match aka the 2022 Italian Super Cup against Inter Milan on Thursday (13/1/2022) at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.
The Supercoppa Italiana is a duel between the Italian League champions and the Coppa Italia winners. Juventus came as the 2020-2021 Coppa Italia champions while Inter were the winners of the Scudetto last season.
