AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho on Saturday has given his reaction to the 3-1 defeat to Inter Milan. The boss spoke at his press conference after the final whistle at San Siro stadium.
However, the Portuguese manager has nothing to be disappointed when admitting AS Roma has lost to a stronger and superior rival.
“Inter is Inter, they are the best team in Serie A, have a squad with a lot of top stars. I have nothing to be disappointed in, or even like, to lose against such an opponent. I also hope they will win Serie A this season.” Mourinho said.
“I tried to help AS Roma have a perfect match against Inter. We did well with the score still at 0-0, but as soon as Gianluca Mancini missed the chance for about 10 seconds, they responded (Denzel Dumfries’ opening goal in the 30th minute) with a pass.
“In the last 10 or 15 minutes of the first half, we also lost the game because we lacked concentration and confidence, the same way at the beginning of the second half.” Mourinho added.
After Dumfries’ opening goal, Inter continued to score more goals to make it 2-0 and 3-0 in the 40th and 52nd minutes by Marcelo Brozovic and Lautaro Martinez, before at the end of the game Henrikh Mkhitaryan removed the consoling goal 1-3 for AS Roma.
“I love Inter very much, but always want to win them in today’s match and every other match. However, I failed. So now that I no longer meet my rivals in the title race in person, I have the right to show my love and I really hope Inter will win the Scudetto at the end of the season.” Mourinho said.
“I think they deserve this title, having had a very impressive season with coach Simone Inzaghi, who has continued the success of Antonio Conte before.” he added.
Meanwhile, Mourinho and AS Roma still have the chance to win for the trophy this season because they are the only club in Serie A still compete in the European Cup.
