Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba could be away from the ground for four to five months, after suffering a serious knee meniscus injury during training in the Los Angeles, U.S.A. on Monday.
This is the beginning of a nightmare for the French midfielder on his return to Turin on a free transfer this summer.
In the case of having to go to the meniscus reconstruction surgery table, Pogba is likely to miss his match with French national team in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Pogba he will need to see an orthopedic specialist before his condition can be confirmed, according to Juventus.
“Following complaining of pain in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological examinations that revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus,” Juventus said in a statement.
“In the next few hours he will undergo a specialist orthopedic consultation. Therefore, in order to continue treatment, he is not taking part in the trip to Dallas.” they added.
Pogba returned to Juventus this summer on a free transfer after not renewing his contract with Manchester United.
Juve re-signed Pogba on a four-year deal which will reportedly see him earning about €8m plus bonuses per season.
Pogba missed 19 Red Devils games last season due to hamstring and calf injuries, and as a result, his second stint at Old Trafford came to an end.
“I want to rediscover my joy of playing football. My heart decided for me and I am sure that I made the right decision, this jersey is everything for me.” Pogba said.
The Old Lady’s management is very concerned aboutPogba’s health. They also planned to add more player to the midfield as soon as Pogba was forced to take a long-term break.
Juventus, according to Calciomercato, are seriously interested in Saul Niguez, who was a big disappointment when he joined Chelsea on loan last season.
