The English Premier League (EPL) is one of the most popular football competitions in the world.

Apparently, Alan Shearer, who became a Newcastle United legend, is the all-time top scorer legend in the Premier League.

Alan Shearer is still crowned the Premier League’s top scorer or top scorer of all time.

Quoted by SportReviews from the Sport Brief page, Shearer managed to score 260 goals in 441 Premier League matches.

Alan Shearer is 52 goals ahead of Wayne Rooney who is second in the list. While in third position is occupied by Harry Kane with 191 goals, which does not rule out the possibility of still adding to his goal coffers with the current Tottenham Hotspur club.

Apart from being the top scorer, Shearer also listed himself as the fastest player to reach 100 goals in the history of the Premier League competition.

Shearer is still the only player to score more than 30 goals in multiple EPL seasons. No wonder Alan Shearer’s name is etched in the history books of English football.

Born on August 13, 1970, Shearer comes from a lower middle class family.

According to Sportskeeda, the player who is known for his elegant playing style and sharp goalscoring instinct started his youth career with local club, Wallsend Boys in 1986.

Shearer then received a contract from Southampton and spent two years at the club based at St Mary’s Stadium.

Thanks to his outstanding ball skills, Shearer made 118 appearances for Southampton and scored 23 goals.

In 1992, he was then transferred to Blackburn Rovers for a transfer value of 3.6 million Euros.

In his first season, he scored 16 goals in 21 games and became the center of attention.

Overall he played 138 games for the club and scored 112 goals.

Shearer decided to move to St. James Park due to his close relationship with Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan, in 1996.

His prowess as a striker was proven by his success in contributing 148 goals during the 303 games he played in 10 years with Newcastle.
