Kevin Durant will play for the Phoenix Suns after a trade made with the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.
According to reports, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and four draft picks are heading to Brooklyn.
On the other hand, TJ Warren is back on the Phoenix team. The negotiation takes place as soon as Mat Ishbia, the new owner of the Suns, takes charge of the franchise.
Durant’s trade comes days after Kyrie Irving asked to leave the Nets. So far, the two were committed to making the Brooklyn team fight for the title. The team reached second place in the East, but fell after an injury to the scorer.
Durant joined a Suns that have been struggling with injuries to their key players. Chris Paul, for example, missed 14 games because of a heel injury.
Devin Booker meanwhile was injured (groin) and only returned to the courts this week.
According to reports, the Nets have the 2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029 picks without protection, as well as the option to trade the 2028 pick.
At the end of the day, it’s accounting for the loss and putting together a strong cast for years to come.
It is worth mentioning that Cam Thomas has been the team’s main scorer since Irving left. Furthermore, good center Nic Claxton, who fights for the award for best defender, and Ben Simmons were still left.
One of the goals of the team should be to recover its best basketball despite Simmons not having a good campaign in Brooklyn.
But not everything is a problem. Mikal Bridges was the main highlight of the Suns while Booker was out.
It’s likely that most of the Nets’ offensive actions will go through him. Johnson, on the other hand, is more of a shooting specialist.
