Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez, is overjoyed to welcome his team’s success in winning the 2022-2023 Spanish League. For him, this title guarantees as well as proof that there is great hope for Barcelona to make even sweeter achievements in the future.
Yes, Barcelona has ensured that they won the 2022-2023 Spanish League after winning in matchday 34. Facing Espanyol at the Cornella-El Prat Stadium, Spain, Monday (15/5/2023), Barcelona won with a score of 4-2.
Blaugrana goals – the nickname of Barcelona – were scored by Robert Lewandowski (11′, 40′), Alejandro Balde (20′), and Jules Kounde (53′). Meanwhile, Espanyol’s two goals came via Javier Puado (74′) and Joselu (90+2′).
The victory over Espanyol was enough to bring Barcelona to lock in the Spanish League title this season. This is because Barcelona’s 14-point advantage on the standings over Real Madrid, which is trailing in second place, is currently impossible to overtake in the remaining 4 matches of the 2022-2023 Spanish League.
After locking in the title, Xavi was overjoyed to play. He also understands the celebration by his players after successfully securing the 2022-2023 Spanish League title. Because, all parties at Barcelona have worked hard to achieve this success.
However, Xavi kept reminding his team not to get carried away with the euphoria of the win and to overdo it after the match. The reason is, Barcelona is at Espanyol’s current headquarters, not at Camp Nou.
“It was a very emotional moment, a very difficult moment not to celebrate, after so many months of work,” said Xavi, quoted from Sports Brief, Monday (15/5/2023). “We don’t celebrate just because we are on the Espanyol pitch,” he continued.
“Celebrations are normal, but I know we are not at home and we must not lose respect,” explained Xavi. Correct.
“(This title gives) a lot of calm, a lot of hope for the future. I am very happy. We did a good job, won the league with four games to go, that is an absolute advantage for the team,” he concluded.
