AC Milan Plants 1899 Tree for Year End Holiday

AC Milan welcomes the year-end holiday period with an initiative entitled “Planting New Memories”. Milan planted 1899 trees. “Planting New Memories” means looking toward the future with confidence and ambition, but also with a long-term and responsible outlook.

AC Milan wants to make a real contribution to environmental issues. The club, aka Il Rossoneri planted a forest with 1899 trees. The process of planting a forest with 1899 trees has begun in collaboration with a platform called Treedom. The 1,899 trees are said to absorb 650 tons of CO2 in the first 10 years.

The number 1899 feels familiar to AC Milan fans considering that is the year the club was born. “Our club is a club with a great history but also, on and off the pitch, thinking about the future,” said AC Milan captain, Davide Calabria. “We ensure that, on this occasion, Rossoneri around the world will move with us to win another tough match, one that affects the lives of all of us,” Calabria added.

Apart from that, AC Milan’s official foundation, Fondazione Milan, will also restore the green playing space in the Municipality 9 area of Milano City, which is now abandoned.

Milan supporters can be directly involved in the two initiatives above. Funds of 5 euros will be donated to the “Planting New Memories” project for every purchase of an AC Milan Christmas sweater at the club’s official store. The Planting New Memories campaign will also be broadcast on the big screen at the San Siro Stadium in the 2023-2024 Italian League home matches against Fiorentina, Frosinone and Monza.

In addition, the players, adorned in items from the special Rossoneri collection, are ready to immortalise moments of joy and sharing, feelings and gestures typical of the festive season. In total, 22 AC Milan personnel were involved in this campaign, ranging from men’s team mainstays such as Calabria, Rafael Leao, and Olivier Giroud, to the star of the Rossoneri women’s squad, Valentina Bergamaschi.

Tania Moreno, AC Milan’s Chief Marketing Officer: “The world of football as we know it today will not exist unless we protect the environment and our planet. Out of this simple but vital piece of knowledge was born our desire to carry out the ‘Planting New Memories’ project. AC Milan has shown once again that it wants to make a positive contribution to drive tangible progress, calling upon its fans in Milan and throughout the world.”
