Tottenham Hotspur obtained negative results in the 2023-2024 Premier League match. Entertaining Aston Villa, The Lilywhites lost narrowly with a final score of 1-2.

Playing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday (26/11/2023), the hosts took the lead through Giovani Lo Celso’s goal in the 22nd minute. However, Aston Villa managed to make a sweet comeback after scoring two goals from Pau Torres (45+7′) and Ollie Watkins (61′).

Tottenham Hotspurs immediately played aggressively from the start of the match in the first half. The team made by Ange Postecoglou appeared confident and managed to provide the first threat through Dejan Kulusevski’s hard shot.

Unfortunately, the hard kick still hit the crossbar which was guarded by Emiliano Martinez. However, Aston Villa also did not hesitate to spread threats at the start of the first half. Ollie Watkins and his colleagues overwhelmed the defense of The Lilywhites – Tottenham Hotspurs’ nickname.

In the 22nd minute, Tottenham Hotspurs, who dominated the match, finally managed to score a goal. It was Giovanni Lo Celso (22′) who was able to fire a half-volley after receiving the rebound from a corner kick.

Two minutes later, Aston Villa equalized through Ollie Watkins. However, after checking the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), Watkins’ goal was declared invalid by the referee.

Tottenham Hotspurs, who dominated, could not maintain their lead. Their goal was finally torn apart by a hard header from Pau Torres (45+7′) who received Douglas Luiz’s measured pass. The 1-1 score lasted until the break.

Entering the second half, The Lilywhites, who appeared aggressive from the start, scored a goal. However, the offside flag was raised and the goal was declared invalid.

The Villas – Aston Villa’s nickname – didn’t want to just submit in the second half. They also often initiate quick attacks to break up the home team’s defense. The result was sweet, Aston Villa stole the lead through Ollie Watkins’ goal (61′).

The goal process could also be said to be clever. Watkins, who made a one-two pass with Youri Tielemans, was able to make good use of the golden opportunity, Aston Villa, who had previously been behind, took a 2-1 lead.

In the final minutes, Tottenham Hotspurs continued to attack Aston Villa’s defense to equalize. But unfortunately, Son Heung-min and his colleagues’ efforts were unsuccessful until the field referee blew the long whistle. Aston Villa won in comeback over Tottenham Hotspurs 2-1.
