Manchester United achieved positive results in Week 13 of the 2023-2024 Premier League. The Red Devils succeeded in stealing full points when they visited Everton’s headquarters.
Playing at Goodison Park, Sunday (27/11/2023), Man United took the lead quickly through Alejandro Garnacho’s beautiful goal in the third minute. Erik ten Hag’s team then added two goals from Marcus Rashford (56′) and Anthony Martial (75′).
Both teams played at a fast tempo from the start of the match. It didn’t take long for Erik ten Hag’s troops to take the lead quickly through Alejandro Garnacho’s beautiful goal in the third minute.
Using Diogo Dalot’s pass, Garnacho immediately greeted him with a sensational overhead kick. Man United quickly took a 1-0 lead over Everton.
Behind by one goal, Everton immediately responded quickly. Idrissa Gueye and his colleagues tried to continue building attacks. However, the score was 1-0 in Man United’s favor until the break.
In the second half, Everton immediately appeared to attack even though they had difficulty penetrating Man United’s defense. The Toffess actually conceded again in the 52nd minute.
Anthony Martial, who entered the penalty box, fell after making contact with Everton defender Ashley Young. Referee John Brooks gave a yellow card because he thought Martial had dived.
Brooks overturned his decision following a VAR review. Young was deemed to have violated Martial so the referee drew a yellow card and awarded a penalty to Manchester United. Rashford, who was appointed as the penalty taker, doubled the Red Devils’ lead to 2-0.
Appearing to attack opened up Everton’s defense. Man United got a chance when Garnacho received Rashford’s cross. However, his shot was narrowly wide on the left side of Pickford’s goal.
The disaster for Everton did not end. Through a counter-attack scheme, Bruno Fernandes managed to provide Martial with a breakthrough pass in the 75th minute. After breaking through the Everton defense, he managed to cheat the ball past Pickford. Score 3-0 for Manchester United’s advantage.
Everton continued to pressure Man United until the end of the match even though they were always confused about scoring opportunities. The Red Devils’ three-goal lead lasted until the final whistle sounded.
Erik ten Hag’s United are currently sixth in the league table with 24 points after 13 games.
While Everton, who occupied the 14th position before being deducted points for violating the league’s financial rules, are second in the bottom of league with four points.
