Winning the 2023-2024 English League Cup in his final season with Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp: The most special trophy!

Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp could not hide his happiness after the Reds won the 2023-2024 English League Cup. For Klopp, the title that Liverpool just won after winning over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final is the most special trophy in his career as a coach.

In fact, Liverpool struggled to win over Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. It was proven that during the 90 minutes no team managed to score a goal, so inevitably the match had to be played until extra time.

It was in the extra round that Liverpool was able to recover and score the winning goal contributed by the Reds’ mainstay defender, Virgil van Dijk, in the 118th minute. After that, there were no additional goals from either team so Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory after 120 minutes played.

It is natural that Klopp was very happy after Liverpool won 1-0 over Chelsea in the final match which took place at Wembley Stadium, Sunday 25 February 2024 yesterday. Because this title is an additional achievement with the Reds before leaving next season.

Jurgen Klopp said Liverpool had achieved another success and that made him very proud. The championship title was even more special because Liverpool struggled to beat Chelsea in the final match.

This achievement also made Liverpool even stronger in the English League Cup record. The reason is, they are the team with the most successes in winning the English League Cup, namely 10 trophies.

“[it] is the most special trophy I have ever won. Absolutely extraordinary,” said Jurgen Klopp as quoted on the Liverpool website, Monday (26/2/2024).

“Sometimes I’m asked if I’m proud of this, proud of that, proud of that, and it’s really complicated. I wish I could feel proud more often,” he added.

The German coach also expressed his appreciation for all elements of the team who had worked hard to achieve this achievement. Because Klopp considers team unity to be the determining factor for Liverpool to become champions.

“Tonight there was this overwhelming feeling of, ‘Oh my God, what is going on here?’ “I’m proud of everyone involved in everything here,” continued Klopp.

“I’m proud of our guys for the way they pushed us. I’m proud of the staff for creating an atmosphere like this where kids can do their best. I’m proud of our Academy. I’m proud of my coaching team. I’m proud of a lot thing. It’s extraordinary,” concluded the German coach.
