Toni Kroos will make a comeback to defend the German national team at Euro 2024. He is also enthusiastic because he is optimistic that he can bring Die Mannschaft – the nickname of the German national team – to emerge as champions of Euro 2024.
As is known, Kroos decided to retire from the German national team in 2020. To be precise, after Die Mannschaft lost to England in the last 16 of Euro 2020.
However, Kroos changed his mind and is now returning to strengthen the German national team for Euro 2024. This is of course not overlooked because Die Mannschaft is the host and he also wants to perfect the end of his career in the world of football.
The reason is, this 34 year old midfielder will indeed hang up his boots after Euro 2024. Kroos himself this year has succeeded in bringing Real Madrid to the Champions League title. Therefore, he is aiming for the Euro 2024 trophy to end his football career on a sweet note.
“Ending a career with the Champions League and European Cup trophies sounds far-fetched. But, I will accept it,” said Kroos, reported by the BBC, Wednesday (12/6/2024).
With the current squad, Kroos is very confident that the German national team can win this prestigious title. Because if he wasn’t sure, then he wouldn’t have decided to return to strengthening Die Mannschaft.
“That goes hand in hand with the decision to return (to the German national team). I still want to be successful and want to win tournaments this summer. “That’s quite clear,” he said.
“If I didn’t feel like this idea or this fantasy was possible, then I wouldn’t have come back. “Because the most important thing is to win whatever competition I take part in,” said Kroos.
The German national team, which has host status, is in Group A with Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland. The team made by Julian Nagelsmann will start their struggle against Scotland at the Allianz Arena on Saturday 15 June 2024.
