Jorge Martin became the winner of the 2024 Pertamina Grand Prix Mandalika MotoGP race at the Mandalika Circuit, Sunday (29/9).
A major incident occurred shortly after the start. Still in sector one of the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, four riders crashed. Aleix Espargaro, Alex Marquez, Jack Miller, and Luca Marini had to end their dream of winning points in this race.
The yellow flag had also flown, but the warning had been lifted by the time the race entered the third lap.
The competition between Jorge Martin vs Francesco Bagnaia was quite fierce after the Mandalika MotoGP which had just finished the race.
Bagnaia, Marquez, and Di Giannantonio were involved in fierce competition in the race for sixth place. Marquez and Di Giannantonio even had time to overtake each other in the fight for seventh place. Having secured a position from Marquez’s pursuit, Di Giannantonio then fell when the race entered the eighth lap.
Martin, who occupies pole position, has been strong since the start. The Spanish rider could not be chased by other drivers, including Enea Bastianini and Pedro Acosta.
After failing to get points in the sprint race, Martin now gets an additional 25 points for a total of 366 points.
Meanwhile, Bagnaia, who obtained 16 points in the full race of the Mandalika MotoGP, collected a total of 345 points. The gap with Martin is now only 21 points.
Enea Bastianini and Marc Marquez, who failed to finish, could not add points. Both are still ranked third and fourth. Bastianini collected 291 points, and Marquez collected 288 points.
Pedro Acosta, who finished second in the 2024 Mandalika Pertamina Grand Prix MotoGP, got an additional 20 points so that he is now ranked fifth with 181 points.
After the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP, there are still five races left that will take place in Japan, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Valencia.
