Francesco Bagnaia started the 2025 MotoGP season badly and it wasn’t just Marc Marquez who was the cause.
After finishing third in the sprint race and full race of the 2025 Thailand MotoGP, Bagnaia then only finished third in the 2025 Argentina MotoGP sprint race and failed to make the podium in the full race at the Termas De Rio Hondo Circuit last weekend.
Due to the less than convincing results, Bagnaia is now ranked third in the standings with 43 points or 31 points behind Marc Marquez who is in the top position and 15 points behind Alex Marquez who is in second place.
According to Pol Espargaro, Bagnaia’s bad start to the season was not only due to Marquez but also his failure to compete with riders from satellite teams such as Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli who were on the podium in the full race of MotoGP Argentina 2025.
“I saw Pecco come out of the pits and his face looked unfriendly. No doubt, he had a problem, because he had a teammate who then overtook him, beat him. That’s something that can obviously happen with your bike, your team. If you have a bad start, then it can happen,” said Espargaro.
“And that can happen when your teammate is Marc Marquez. But then being beaten by riders like Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli is intolerable,” said the rider who is not joining any team this season.
The rider who once defended Repsol Honda and Red Bull KTM assessed that Bagnaia would be under even more pressure if he could not improve his results.
From the results of the first two series of MotoGP 2025, Marc Marquez is favored to end the season with a title after being absent from the championship stage for five years.
Bagnaia plans to use an old Ducati motorbike to face Marc Marquez in the MotoGP United States at the Austin Circuit.
Bagnaia seemed to have difficulty using the latest Desmosedici, the GP25. Therefore, Bagnaia wants to return to using last season’s motorbike, the GP24, to be able to compete with Marc Marquez in the next race at MotoGP America, March 28-30.
