Alex De Minaur Holds Third Title of the 2019 Zhuhai Championships

Tennis News: Australian youngster Alex De Minaur won his third title of the season after toppling Adrian Mannarino in the first edition of the Zhuhai Championships (30/9).

The 20-year-old Alex De Minaur, who defeated Andy Murray in the last 16, won the Zhuhai final 7-6 6-4 over Frenchman Mannarino in about 2 hours.

World number 31 De Minaur has performed fiercely throughout the Zhuhai Championships and broke Mannarino in the tenth game of the second set to seal the victory.

De Minaur successfully added titles in Zhuhai with titles in Sydney and Atlanta that has won earlier this season and he said that he has work hard to build strength in his mentality.

“I train my mind as much as possible on the field or as much as I do on my fitness side. I have a psychologist who I can talk to every day and that has been a big help to me, “said De Minaur.

“To be honest, tennis is a pretty tough sport. When you enter the field, you will face a lot of different pressures and expectations and when some things don’t work well.”

“So, having someone like that on my team and being able to help me clear my mind and make me mentally stronger, I think that has been the biggest change for me.”

For his efforts, De Minaur is entitle to receive 250 points and prize money of 160,550 US dollars. He is also predicte to rise to rank 25 in the world.

While Mannarino who record 1-7 in the final, get 150 points and prize money of 86,810 US dollars. Mannarino’s efforts have not been strong enough to match the title in Zhuhai with the title he won at telah s-Hertogenbosch in June.

Previously De Minaur was in his best condition throughout the match which lasted 78 minutes, after only losing one point from his first serve and converting four of the five break points he created to advance to the finals for the third time this season. Thanks to this victory, De Minaur recorded 27-15 this season.

Before bringing home the title of Zhuhai Championships, De Minaur had to face Adrian Mannarino for the first time in the top party. The Frenchman defeated Spain’s Albert Ramos Vinolas 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 to make his second final of the season.

“Mannarino is a great player, a veteran who has won many matches, and has played a number of games well this week,” De Minaur commented on Mannarino.
