The doubled UFC champion Amanda Nunes (19-4) and her pregnant fiancee Nina Ansaroff admitted they already had COVID-19 symptoms a few months ago.
The Brazilian, who will defend her featherweight title on Saturday against Felicia Spencer (8-1), said he had symptoms of the disease after a trip to Las Vegas. She could not be tested for coronavirus in a Florida hospital.
“I was in Vegas at a convention. There were a lot of people from all over the world. I was exposed to a lot of people there, and when I got home I got sick,” Nunes said.
“I soon got sick and had the same symptoms as the corona. And now, going to the UFC, I’m going to see if I really did. Because I arrived from the trip and went straight to bed, with a fever, my body (aching), something I never felt before. I’ve been sick before, and I never felt like I did when I arrived from Vegas, after the convention.” Nunes added.
Ansaroff is pregnant and is due to give birth to their son in September. Nunes did not say if her fiancee was in Las Vegas with her, but her wife, who is also a UFC fighter, already had the same symptoms.
“When I started to feel better, Nina started to get sick too. I recovered at home. I respected the quarantine and Nina went to the emergency room quickly because of the baby.” Nunes said.
“We couldn’t be screened because it was at the start [of the pandemic] and they didn’t have a lot of tests. Everything went well and she recovered quickly.” she added.
Amanda’s fight with Spencer has been suspended multiple times before finally landing on UFC 250 this weekend. The fight was initially planned for UFC 250 only but in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
