Andy Murray returns for the 2018 Citi Open in Washington

British number one tennis players Andy Murray is enjoying his return to tennis this summer after being out of the game for nearly four months.

The 30-year-old tennis player has not played a competitive match since he was knocked out of Wimbledon quarter-final against the American Sam Querrey after an injury-hit display in July last year.

He had his hip surgery in Melbourne in last January. He was operated on by Dr John O’Donnell at the St Vincent Hospital.

But according to reports, Andy Murray will return to action at the Citi Open tournament at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington D.C, USA, which starts on July 28, as part of his preparations for the US Open this year.

“This time it’s been harder. There’s been a lot more ups and downs this time. It’s been a longer and much more complex than the back issue.” Murray said to journalist.

“Having been through a back injury and a difficult surgery before helps, but the back injury was easier because I was backing on the court competing quite soon afterwards.” Murray added.

Murray has fallen to 19th in the world at the moment. However, he said that he was determined to enjoy professional tennis when he returned on the match court.

“There will always be pressure there, but I’ll definitely make sure I do not get to down with a bad result or a tough loss and not too high when things are going well.” Murray said.

“Because you’ve quite enough know what’s around the corner. I certainly will not take anything for granted when I come back.” he added.

The 2018 Citi Open is one of only thirteen prestigious ATP World Tour 500 tournaments worldwide, and it offers more than $1.8 million in total financial commitment.

According to his record, Murray first played in Washington when he lost to French tennis stars Arnaud Clement in the final in 2006.

The former world number one joins the 2018 Citi Open alongside defending U.S Open Champion Sloane Stephens, Caroline Wozniacki, Kevin Anderson and John Isner.

The three-time Grand Slam winner on the other hand, he’s planning to make his return for a tournament in the Netherlands at the start of the grass-court season. However, Murray insisted to journalist that he will not play at the 2018 French Open.
