The summer transfer window is closed, but that doesn’t stop transfer talk from rummaging around about who will be moving where come January. Barcelona are reportedly keen to add arguably the world’s best midfielder, Paul Pogba, to their ranks.
Speaking in an interview, Barcelona president Joseph Maria Bartomeu has said there is no chance of Catalan club signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
The Spaniard explained on Tuesday he has idea why recent reports have linked the La Liga champions with a move for France World Cup winner.
“I read these rumours – not just Pogba but a lot of players. Most of the teams don’t want to sell their players. They want to grow.” Bartomeu said
“The rumours that we have proposed Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes and money to Man United for Pogba are not true. These are just rumors.
“When a club doesn’t want to sell, it does not sell. And I think Pogba will continue for a long time at United because the big teams want to keep their players.
“When you hear from agents that a certain player is on the market – and I am not saying that about this player, but generally – I will sometimes call the CEO and say ‘Is it true you want to sell this player?’. Usually they say ‘No, way, not for sale’ and that’s the end of it.” Bartomeu added.

Bartomeu, meanwhile, compares between his superstar Lionel Messi and Pogba who will end his career in Barcelona anytime.
“Messi will end his career in Barcelona. He doesn’t want to go away and our plan is to convert him into a single club player and surround him with great players. We don’t want to sell the big players we have,” Bartomeu said.
The working relationship between United’s manager Jose Mourrinho and Pogba has, however, soured at Old Trafford, leading to more exit talk in recent weeks.
But, according to reports, however, United won’t step aside lightly, as they “do not want to sell” their French midfielder Pogba and are making strenuous efforts to keep him.
Pogba has signed a five-year contract with United which will keep him with the Premier League giants until June 2021. He has scored six goals and assisted two in 22 appearances in all competitions so far.
