Barcelona struggles to sell Coutinho

Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho is no longer an attractive property in the 2020/2021 transfer market after no more clubs want his services.

Bayern Munich, who borrowed Coutinho from Barcelona last season, have confirmed they will not keep the player next season after signing Leroy Sane from Manchester City. With Munich, Coutinho only received an additional contract for two months until the Champions League was over.

Besides Munchen, Barcelona also no longer wants the former Inter Milan player.

The Blaugrana hopes to sell Coutinho to cover the huge costs that came out when they brought the 28-year-old from Liverpool in January 2018.

Coutinho transferred Barcelona from the Reds by breaking the record transfer, 160 million euros. However, because his performance was not satisfactory, Coutinho was thrown out of the main squad for the club from Catalunya for less than two seasons.

Quoted from Marca, now Barcelona have difficulty finding Coutinho enthusiasts due to the corona virus pandemic that erupted since the beginning of the year. The outbreak caused European clubs financial difficulties and could not spend large amounts of players.

Until now no official offer has come to Barcelona management for Coutinho. Because, Barcelona set a high enough price for the former Liverpool striker, which is 80 million euros.

Quique Setien’s team will also not reject loan options from other clubs. However, Coutinho’s salary must be fully borne by the borrowing club. That clause also makes the English Premier League club, Arsenal, called back from Coutinho’s loan plan.

Coutinho’s contract with Barcelona remains until 2023 to come. Blaugrana also still has time to sell the player which was born in Rio de Janeiro.

Coutinho is claimed to have asked his agent, Kia Joorabchian, to find a club in the English Premier League. However, there are no more English clubs interested in Coutinho than Arsenal.

One is for sure Liverpool will reject the former flagship player. The reason, Jurgen Klopp’s team is already great even without Coutinho.

Barcelona is claimed to still desire Munchen to sweeten Coutinho with hope, the player will look neat and stunning in the rest of the Champions League match with the Bundesliga giants.
