Barcelona vs PSG Results: Score 1-4 (Agg. 4-6)

PSG made an impressive comeback to humiliate hosts Barcelona with a score of 4-1. The two teams competed in the second leg of the 2023/2024 Champions League quarter-final duel, Tuesday (16/4/2024).

Visiting the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, PSG carried a big mission to try to reverse the position. Last week, in the first leg duel, they lost 2-3 in Paris.

This time the match took place with high intensity and pressure. Barca struggled with Ronald Araujo’s red card, Xavi’s red card and the assistant coach’s red card.

Barcelona took the lead through Raphinha’s goal (12′), but PSG were able to reverse the position through the actions of Ousmane Dembele (40′), Vitinha (54′) and Kylian Mbappe (61′, 89′).

This victory ensures PSG secures a 6-4 aggregate. Barcelona eliminated. PSG qualified for the semifinals of the 2023/2024 Champions League.

The match started at a high tempo. Barcelona immediately attacked. PSG responded, but tried to keep the tempo from getting too high. 10 minutes into the game.

In the 12th minute, Barca scored the opening goal. Yamal stabbed from the right side and sent a cross to the near post. The ball was then met by Raphinha’s hard kick from close range. Goal! Barcelona 1-0 PSG.

This goal helped Barca gain momentum. Until 20 minutes into the match, PSG seemed to have difficulty attacking back. Barca were more dangerous, including opportunities for Lewandowski.

29th minute, disaster for Barcelona. Araujo was given a straight red card after bringing down Barcola on the edge of the penalty box. Barca players protested, the referee did not budge.

In the 44th minute, Barca equalized. Fast attack scheme, Barcola made penetration from the left side and sent a cross to the far post. The ball was greeted by Dembele’s rocket kick. Goal! Barcelona 1-1 PSG.

The match resumed and both teams appeared to be playing more openly. Barca looked for a quick goal to try to stay away. Moreover, they have lost one player.

In the 54th minute, PSG scored the second goal. Vitinha received Hakimi’s pass outside the penalty box, controlled the ball and shot to the bottom left. Goal! Barça 1-2 PSG. Aggregate 4-4.

In the 61st minute, PSG scored another goal. The referee pointed to the spot after Cancelo brought down Dembele in the restricted area. Mbappe stepped forward as executioner and sent a hard shot to the left side. Goal! Barça 1-3 PSG.

Barca tried to get up and managed to create a number of opportunities. In the 73rd minute, Lewandowski had a shooting opportunity. In the 78th minute, Raphinha almost beat Donnarumma.

In the 89th minute, PSG finally delivered the final blow. Quick counterattack scheme, Dembele’s shot was blocked by Ter Stegen, the ball was met by Asensio, and it was blocked again. The Barca defender then tried to throw the ball, but the ball landed in front of Mbappe who was ready to shoot. Goal! Barcelona 1-4 PSG.

There were no additional goals until the end of the match. Score 1-4 for PSG to win. Aggregate 4-6, PSG has the right to qualify for the semifinals, Barcelona is eliminated from the Champions League.
