Bayern boss threatens Lewandowski

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has threatened Robert Lewandowski who has spoken openly about his desire to move.

Kahn found Lewandowski’s attitude unacceptable. According to Kahn, Lewandowski should have had a wiser way of discussing his future as a footballer.

“I can’t tell you why Robert chose this way of communication because of the situation at hand.”

“A public statement like this will get you nowhere,” Kahn told Sport 1, quoted from Metro.

According to Kahn, Lewandowski should also appreciate Bayern Munich which has made him develop into one of the best strikers in the world.

“Robert must remember the things he got at Bayern. He became one of the best footballers in the world when he was with us here,” said the Bayern goalkeeper from the 90s and 2000s.

Lewandowski has previously stated that he wants to leave Bayern and is looking for a new challenge next season. According to Lewandowski, his time at Bayern is over.

“Am I optimistic about joining Barcelona? That’s a big question. I don’t like being in a situation like this. One thing for sure now is that my era at Bayern Munich is over. I don’t see any chance of continuing my career at this club,” said Lewandowski.

“Bayern are a serious club and I’m sure they won’t keep me, I don’t want to play there anymore. Transfer is the best solution. I hope they don’t stop me.”

Lewandowski’s own contract will only expire in 2023. Thus, clubs interested in signing Lewandowski must pay a transfer fee. Except, Bayern allowed Lewandowski to leave freely.

Throughout his career at Bayern, Lewandowski transformed into a great goal machine. After scoring 25 goals in his first season with Bayern, Lewandowski has always scored 40 goals or more in the following seven seasons.

Lewandowski even scored 55 goals in a season in 2019/2020. In this season when he is 33 years old, Lewandowski is still able to score 50 goals from 46 matches he played.

So far, Lewandowski has won 22 trophies since joining in 2014. Not only that, Lewandowski also managed to record a total of 344 goals and 72 assists for almost eight seasons defending Bayern Munich.
