Carlos Alcaraz Cancels Appearance in Basel Because of This

Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz, a Spanish tennis player, will not play at the Swiss Indoors, Basel for the 2023 season after he withdrew due to injury.

The former world number 1 competed last season in Basel and played quite well, with fans happy to see him back in Switzerland. But this will not happen in this season’s edition after the tournament announced the player’s resignation via social media.

Initially, the 2023 Wimbledon champion revealed his plans to take part in Basel, Paris and the ATP Finals, but the tennis player’s schedule looks to be a little different this time. It remains to be seen how serious his injury is and whether it threatens his participation in Paris, but it is likely he will compete at the ATP Finals.

It is impossible for the Spanish tennis player to miss the end-of-season tournament for the second time in a row because as we know, he failed to appear in the end-of-season tournament due to an injury at the Paris Masters.

The effects of the injury carried over into the new season, causing the world number 2 tennis player to be forced to miss the first Grand Slam of the 2023 season, the Australian Open. The timing of the injury this time around wasn’t ideal, but it didn’t appear to be too severe.

Posts by the Swiss Open indicate that Carlos Alcaraz has two different problems, namely inflammation in his feet and some problems with his gluteal muscles.

“The injured Carlos Alcaraz had to cancel his appearance in Basel, Stan Wawrinka will also enter the main draw of the match. Alcaraz had to cancel the start of the tournament at Swiss Indoors (21-29 October) due to injury. “According to his doctor’s bulletin, the world number 2 tennis player has inflammation in his left leg and problems with his gluteal muscles,” wrote the organizers in Basel.

These injuries are not too serious and both injuries should improve with proper rest.

The Spaniard was hoping to end the season strong, but the withdrawal will mean Novak Djokovic will likely end up as world number 1 at the end of the season.

The tennis player who has bagged two Grand Slam titles needs as many points as possible and after a hard-court season in East Asia, he hopes to get enough points in Europe. But it also doesn’t seem promising, but health is the most important thing, so there’s no reason to be too obsessed with it. As long as he is healthy and competing in Turin, the fans will be happy.
