A surprising fact came from Manchester United. The Red Devils are reportedly not going to prioritize buying a new central defender in the summer.
In the last two seasons, United have received a lot of criticism regarding the performance of their defense. The MU defenders, especially their central defenders are often considered inconsistent, so that the Red Devils conceded a lot especially this season.
Since the beginning of last season, Jose Mourinho has been rumored to be bringing a world-class center-back to Old Trafford. The plan is also rumored to be continued by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the summer.
But reported by The Daily Mail, Solskajer has taken a decision regarding his team’s transfer maneuver in the summer. He reportedly will not prioritize buying a new central defender in the summer.

It is too expensive
According to the report, the reason Solskjaer did not prioritize buying a new center back in the summer is because the price of the center-back defender is currently too expensive.
The average quality center-back is currently priced at over 50 million pounds. Solskjaer felt the number was too expensive for the center back.
For that he focused more on buying a new right-back and a new central midfielder in the summer.
Take advantage of Existing players
The report claims that Solskjaer is planning to take advantage of the current central defender stock at United.
In Solskjaer’s view, MU has a number of quality central defenders such as Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling. Not to mention the presence of a number of other defenders such as Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
Solskjer is optimistic that he can improve the performance of the MU central defenders so that he prioritizes his transfer funds to strengthen other sectors in his team.
