Bayern Munich and Inter Milan achieved different results on the second matchday of the Champions League, Wednesday (28/10). Bayern won, while Inter only draw.
Bayern embark on their second Champions League Group A match against Lokomotiv Moscow headquarters. Hansi Flick’s team won by a narrow score of 2-1 at the RZD Arena.
Bayern can excel quickly in this match. Die Roten opened a 1-0 lead thanks to Leon Goretzka’s header in the 13th minute.
Goretzka managed to take advantage of Benjamin Pavard’s measured bait to break into the host’s goal.
After winning 1-0, Bayern received fierce resistance from Lokomotiv. In fact, Lokomotiv’s surging pressure led to a goal scored by Anton Miranchuk in the 70th minute.
In stressful situations, Bayern can actually steal the winning goal. Shot from outside the penalty box Joshua Kimmich breaks into Lokomotiv’s goal to make the score 2-1.
These results make Bayern firmly at the top of Group A. Kimmich et al collected six points after wiping out the victory in the first two games.
In other matches, Inter are chasing their first win in Group B. However, Antonio Conte’s squad failed to make it happen because they had to settle for a goalless draw at Donetsk headquarters.
Inter actually dominated the game. This was evidenced by La Beneamata’s efforts to score more goals than the hosts.
Inter have recorded four shots on target compared to one made by Donetsk. However, none of the four chances were goals.
Several opportunities that Inter got through Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, Marcelo Brozovic, and Arturo Vidal were unable to thrill Donetsk’s goal.
The failure to reach these three points was the second in a row for Inter. On the first matchday, Inter could only draw 2-2 at home to Borussia Monchengladbach.
Inter are currently in second place with two points. While the top position in Group B is occupied by Donetsk, who collected four points.
In Group B, Madrid almost collapsed while playing at Borussia Monchengladbach. Los Merengues were two goals behind until they finally forced the score to a 2-2 draw at Borussia Park.
Monchengladbach managed to lead 2-0 over Madrid. Marcus Thuram netted two goals for the host in the 33rd and 58th minute.
Madrid, who didn’t want to be embarrassed in this match, tried to react. Their attempts to score paid off through Karim Benzema in the 87th minute and Casemiro in second half injury time.
This draw makes Madrid unable to get out of the caretaker of Group B. While the top position is occupied by Shakhtar Donetsk, who has collected four points.
