Champions League Results: Juventus Wins 1-0 over Atletico

Juventus narrowly won 1-0 over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Group D match at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday (27/11).

Atletico pressed Juventus since the early minutes. Thomas fired in the fifth minute but only hit the Juventus defense.

In the ninth minute Paulo Dybala conducted an opportunity. After playing one-two with Aaron Ramsey, Dybala fired at Atletico’s far post, but goalkeeper Jan Oblak was more alert and could catch the ball from Dybala’s shot.

In the first half Atletico dominated the attack more. Diego Simeone’s team does not want to linger holding the ball.

When the Atletico players seemed to be without any burden in pressing Juventus, host striker Cristiano Ronaldo had difficulty finding his best performance until the middle of the first half. Ronaldo, who initially played as a central striker, played up the right wing to get the ball.

Juventus increasingly dominated the game in the middle of the first half. However, Atletico showed a solid defense despite frequent attacks from the host.

Miralem Pjanic tried to break the deadlock in the 33rd minute. But Pjanic’s shot from outside the penalty box was far from the target.

Juventus are trying to dismantle Atletico’s defenses from various sectors. When attacking from the wing line didn’t work, Maurizio Sarri used the second sector through Blaise Matuidi and Pjanic to create chances.

However, again the Atletico defense is still quite focused and playing neatly in the face of Juventus’ open play.

Juventus effort to scored results in injury time precisely in the 45th minute + 2. The goal was created from Dybala’s free kick from the right side which immediately slid into Oblak’s goal. Juventus won 1-0 over Atletico in the first round.

Behind 0-1 made Atletico attack Juventus early in the second half. Rojiblancos tries his luck to get the equalizer through the foot of Saul Niguez. But Saul’s left foot volley in the 50th minute could still be caught by Szczesny.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who in the second half had almost no chance of taking the initiative to open fire from outside the penalty box. It’s just that, CR7 efforts have not produced results because the kick in the 60th minute was not on target.

Bernardeschi who entered in the second round is quite keen to use the gap in the Atletico defense. In the 67th minute Bernardeschi unleashed a left-footed shot against Oblak’s goal post.

Atletico continues to look for a equalizer. One of them through Alvaro Morata’s header in the 71st minute, the results of Angel Correa bait still hovering thin above the Juventus goal

Dybala again got a chance in the 74th minute. But while in the penalty box the Argentine was lost to a duel with Atletico defender Hermoso.

Matthijs de Ligt made an important save in the Juventus defense when he dispelled Correa in the 83rd minute. At that time Correa was in an ideal position to score a goal because he was in front of the Juventus goal.

Atletico could have been leveled if Morata was able to execute Correa’s pass well in injury time. However, Correa’s mature pass to Morata who was in front of goal couldn’t be welcomed by the Spanish striker. Juventus won 1-0 over Atletico in that match.
