Champions League results: Silence PSG 1-0, Bayern Munchen Champion

Bayern Munich narrowly won over Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League final at the Da Luz Stadium, Lisbon, Portugal, Monday (24/8).

PSG and Bayern had a fierce match full of opportunities since the first half. PSG who was pressed in the first 10 minutes actually got a golden opportunity first through Neymar in the 18th minute who was still able to be driven away by Manuel Neuer on foot.

In the 22nd minute, Bayern have a golden opportunity. Robert Lewandowski’s shot while turning around could not be reached by Keylor Navas, but still hit the post.

Two minutes later, the cooperation of Neymar, Ander Herrera and Di Maria, which was ended by a shot on target by the Argentine midfielder, only produced a goal kick.

Bayern again had Lewandowski’s second golden opportunity in the 32nd minute. The header from close range can still be anticipated by Navas.

At the end of normal time it was Mbappe’s turn to waste a chance. Getting the ball in front of goal, the French forward fired a weak shot which did not trouble Neuer.

The second half begins, the two teams press each other again. Bayern are still dominant in possession, while PSG are trying to appear effective.

The match suddenly heated up in the 51st minute due to an incident between Serge Gnabry and Neymar which caused the PSG star to fall. Leandro Paredes, who did not accept Gnabry’s treatment of Neymar, pulled the German midfielder’s shirt. Gnabry and Paredes were shown yellow cards.

The 59th minute Bayern scored. A rushed attack ended with Kingsley Coman’s header at PSG. Despite being guarded by Thilo Kehrer, Coman was able to complete Joshua Kimmich’s pass well.

After winning 1-0, Bayern seemed to find a gap in PSG’s back line. Several times the bait from the wing threatened goalkeeper Keylor Navas. It is fortunate that Les Parisiens have Presnel Kimpembe and Thiago Silva as central defenders who are swift to dispel dangerous balls.

PSG tried to respond by bringing in Marco Verratti and pulling Paredes out. There was no instant change, Bayern still had the ball, but PSG had a chance to release a threat through Di Maria’s pass which Mbappe failed to complete.

The 1-0 advantage did not make Bayern feel safe. Hansi Flick then put Ivan Perisic and Philippe Coutinho to replace Coman and Gnabry in the 68th minute.

In the 69th minute, Di Maria’s bait failed to provide an assist again because Marquinhos’ shot was still blocked by Neuer. Meanwhile, Mbappe’s individual action in the 72nd minute was still able to be stopped by Bayern defenders.

In the midst of PSG’s efforts to catch up, Lewandowski appeared to threaten the Ligue 1 champions’ goal with a shot that was wide in the 82nd minute. A minute later, Coutinho’s free kick was still sideways from the PSG goal

PSG’s efforts are relentless. Entering additional time, Neymar’s opportunity in the penalty box still deviates from the goal.

The 1-0 score for Bayern lasted until the referee Daniele Orsato blew the long whistle.
