Tennis News: There might be a little splint on his right knee and a few times having to change shirts and shoes in quite hot conditions but that’s only a minor problem for Kevin Anderson.

Kevin Anderson dropped to the Cincinnati Open (Western & Southern Open) for the tenth time in his career and picked up victory in an empty stadium after struggling it out for 3 hours.

After suffering a number of injuries in the last four seasons, including undergoing knee surgery in September 2019 and February 2020, South African Anderson has never given up and turning 34, he is once again back on the right track.

Anderson’s 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 win over Kyle Edmund at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, New York was his first Masters 1000 win since March 2019, when he lost to Roger Federer in the Miami Open quarter-finals.

Anderson came back from 3-5 in the first set, then once again from a 1/3 deficit in the first set tiebreaker before snatching up six straight points.

Edmund refused to give up claiming the second set, but Anderson didn’t let the same thing happen in the deciding set before Anderson finally claimed his fourth win of the 2020 season.

Anderson’s hard work resulted in a fourth meeting against the fourth seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Cincinnati Open, which is usually held in Cincinnati, this season must be held without spectators at the venue that will become the US Open due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from being without spectators, line judges were also removed and the tennis players had to take their own towels.

In the previous match, Kyle Edmund appeared mercilessly against a player who was ranked nearly 300 places below him. He broke Choinski four times and only made eight unforced errors on the way to winning the match.

Edmund’s success helped the British Bulldogs move closer to victory over the Union Jacks in a show which saw England’s best tennis players compete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
