Robert Lewandowski also had time to bring Die Roten to lead. Unfortunately, Samuel Chukwueze scored a goal at the end of the second half to bring Villarreal to win 2-1 on aggregate.
Thanks to this result, Villarreal was extraordinary entitled to advance to the semifinals to challenge the winner of the duel between Liverpool versus Benfica.
The match was tight from the start of the first half. Both Bayern Munich and Villarreal have had opportunities, unfortunately neither has scored.
Bayern Munich several times created golden opportunities to open the scoring. However, Geronimo Rulli’s slick appearance in goal kept Villarreal’s goal safe.

Shortly after returning from the dressing room, Rulli swiftly stopped Jamal Musiala’s movement. Bayern players had asked for a penalty, but the referee did not budge.
Bayern finally managed to break the deadlock in the 52nd minute. Starting from a counter-attack, Lewandowski fired a shot that Rulli failed to anticipate. The aggregate score is now 1-1.

The disaster for Bayern Munich came in the 88th minute when Chukwueze, who had just entered, managed to equalize with a first-time shot to continue Moreno’s assist.
The 1-1 score lasted until the long whistle sounded. That is, Villarreal has the right to qualify for the semifinals with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
