Chelsea Draw Manchester City 1-1: Amazing Performance!

Chelsea coach, Mauricio Pochettino, is satisfied and happy with the results his team got against Manchester City in the 2023-2024 Premier League. Even though they failed to win because the match ended in a 1-1 draw, Pochettino said that the Chelsea players had played extraordinary.

Pochettino was happy with Chelsea’s performance because they were able to take the lead first. In fact, he admitted that after the match he congratulated his players for fighting, even though they got a draw.

“Today was an extraordinary performance. We scored the first goal and the first half was a very good match,” said Pochettino, quoted from Chelsea’s official website, Sunday (18/2/2024).

“I am very happy and I said this to the players and congratulated them because their effort was huge,” he continued.

According to Pochettino, Chelsea will reach the expected level after being able to show a good game with Man City. He is also happy that his players have shown the spirit and character to compete, even though they are facing the best team in the world today.

“The spirit we showed today is the way we want to compete with the talent we have on all fronts, we will reach the level we expect,” said the coach from Argentina.

“I am very happy because playing against a team that is one of the best in the world is not easy, and today, the character and personality shown by the team made me very happy,” he continued.

Yes, Chelsea got a 1-1 draw against Man City at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (17/2/2024). Raheem Sterling (42′) gave the Blues the lead first, but Rodri (83′) was able to save The Citizens – nicknamed Manchester City – from defeat.

Failure to win means Chelsea remains in the middle of the table in 10th place. They have collected a total of 35 points.

Meanwhile, Manchester City, they had to drop to third place with 53 points. Man City is four points behind the leaders of the standings, namely Liverpool.

Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, doesn’t want to lament his team’s failure to beat Chelsea in the 2023-2024 Premier League match for long. He chose to immediately shift his focus to fighting Brentford.

According to Rodri, Man City’s condition of conceding first made the match difficult. Because, it is difficult for Man City to recover to avoid defeat.

“I’m a little disappointed. We should have performed better from the few opportunities we got. When you concede a goal, it’s always difficult to recover,” said Rodri, quoted from Manchester City’s official website, Sunday (18/2/2024).

Even though he was able to avoid defeat after falling behind first, Rodri realized that this was not easy. He also felt that Manchester City had to learn from the draw with Chelsea, especially in the first half where they often made mistakes.

“We have done it in previous matches, but it is not always easy. We have to learn from our mistakes and try to keep moving forward,” said Rodri.

Now, Rodri hopes that Manchester City can perform better when facing Brentford. Rodri believes that victory will enable his team to maintain their hopes of retaining the Premier League title.

“We have to perform well in the next match against Brentford. If we win, then we will be there,” explained Rodri.
