Chelsea make Maruzio Sarri top target as their new manager

Chelsea manager Antoine Conte could be sacked in the coming months. Napoli manager Maruzio Sarri has been named as his possible replacement this summer at Stamford Bridge.

According to report, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has picked Sarri as his prime candidate for the manager’s place after the Italian indicated to quit the Serie A at the end of 2017/18 season.

Sarri joined Napoli in 2015 and he led the club to second and third-place finishes in his first two seasons in charge. The 59-year-old manager still has over two years contracts left and he has a £7 million release clause at Partenopei.

Chelsea has been faced very difficult season under Conte since they won the Premier League title last season. Former Juventus manager has found himself under huge pressure at the club in recent months.

The Blues’ recent form has been poor in their last five matches in all competitions, with three wins, a draw and one defeat leaving them adrift of their north London rivals in the race for the top four and looking likely to miss out on Champions League qualification in next season.

With just four matches to play, it looks increasingly likely the reigning champion will be playing for Europe League football under new manager for next season.

Conte would not be the first manager to be sacked the season after winning the title, with the same fate befalling both Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho.

However, the Italian manager is not worried about his future as Chelsea manager so far. He insisted to focus with four Premier League matches to play in the coming weeks.

“I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know about this, but we didn’t speak about a project.” said Conte to the Sky Sports News.

“I don’t know, you have to ask the club, not me. I repeat, my task is to work, and I know that I work, 24 hours, for Chelsea, me and my staff. This is our task. Then the club has to take the decision. But I repeat, I am not worried about this.” Conte added.

Chelsea on the other hand, they have been linked on both Luis Enrique and Thomas Tuchel as potential candidates to take over from Conte at Stamford Bridge this summer.
