Former Manchester United player, Mikael Silvestre was emotional when he saw the news that Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence at Old Trafford had created new problems for the team based at Old Trafford. He felt that the assumption was nonsense because he actually saw Ronaldo coming by giving new hope to Man United.
As is known, Man United brought in Ronaldo at a price of 20 million pounds, or around Rp. 260.72 billion from Juventus in the summer of 2021. Even though he is 36 years old, CR7 still shows his slick appearance.
Even though Ronaldo is 36 years old, Man United have their own reasons for signing him back. He is no longer young, but the Portuguese player has not shown a decline in performance and still has a sharp instinct in scoring goals.
However, according to former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher, Ronaldo considers Ronaldo to be the cause of Man United’s performance problems this season. The reason is that he thinks Ronaldo can only score goals and is reluctant to be involved in his team’s defensive game.
Hearing the comments that cornered the Man United star, Silvestre immediately defended. He said Carragher’s comments were bullshit.
“The comments about him being a problem are complete nonsense,” said Silvestre.
Furthermore, Silvestre explained that bringing Ronaldo back to Man United was winning the title. He said CR7 took on a different challenge from the previous team.
“Look at the ratio of goals scored, the chances created since the start of the season. He wants to help, wants to win trophies. He didn’t come to Man United to relax before retiring. This is a bigger challenge than his previous club,” he continued.
Even the 44-year-old man considers the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to be the leader at the current club. Because Ronaldo has shown it with an attitude of leadership even though he is not the team captain.
“He left United after winning the Ballon d’Or, winning the Premier League and becoming a top player,” added Silvestre.
“He knows there will be questions about him and what he can give, but he is a leader. He doesn’t wear the armband, but he shows the way, and everything he does is positive.”
So far Ronaldo has collected 13 goals from 19 appearances for Man United in various competitions. Seven of these goals came in the 2021-2022 Premier League and this number makes him the top scorer so far for the Red Devils.
