Cristiano Ronaldo Not Satisfied After Officially Becoming Top Scorer in 2023, Determined to Repeat the Same Achievement Next Year!

Football superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, is not satisfied after officially becoming the top scorer in 2023. He is determined to repeat the same achievement next year.

Yes, Ronaldo managed to score one goal in his team, Al Nassr’s 4-1 win over At-Taawoun in the match week 19 of the 2023 Saudi Arabian League. The match was held at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium, Buraidah, Sunday (31/12/2023 ).

This additional goal means that Ronaldo has now scored 54 goals in a year. With 54 goals achieved in 59 matches, CR7 – Ronaldo’s nickname – has become the top scorer in the world throughout 2023.

Ronaldo beat his competitors who are strikers at top European clubs. They are Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star, Kylian Mbappe, who have both scored 52 goals this year as well as Manchester City spearhead, Erling Haaland, who has scored 50 goals.

None of these competitors will play again at the end of this year. As a result, his goal tally will no longer be overtaken, making him the world’s top scorer in 2023.

The 38 year old player was very happy with his achievements. Not satisfied, he is determined to become the world’s top scorer again next year.

“I’m very happy, it’s been a good year for me as an individual and as a collective. “I scored so many goals, I helped the team at Al-Nassr and for the national team a lot,” said Ronaldo, as reported by Goal International, Sunday (31/12/2023).

“I feel good, I feel happy and next year I will try to do it again,” he added.

This is the fifth time the Portuguese striker has finished a calendar year as the world’s top goalscorer. Previously, he did it in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 when he was still in the Real Madrid uniform.

In fact, his 54 goals this year are the most after he collected 55 goals in 2016. At that time, he also won the Ballon d’Or trophy.

Uniquely, his last goal this year was scored exactly one year after he joined Al Nassr after being expelled from Manchester United. He broke through Al-Taawoun’s goal in the 90+2 minute which completed his team’s brilliant comeback with three other goals scored by Marcelo Brozovic (26′), Aymeric Laporte (35′) and Otavio (50′).

Previously, the home team took the lead early on. It was Aschraf El Mahdioui who managed to break into Al Nassr’s goal in the 13th minute.

This positive result also led Al Nassr to continue to stick closely to the top of the 2023-2024 Saudi Arabian League standings, namely Al Hilal. Cristiano Ronaldo et al are seven points away from them with a collection of 46 points from 19 matches.
