Danny Rose all set to leave Tottenham and join Manchester United

Starsport can reveal Rose has set his heart on leaving Tottenham for Old Trafford ahead of the World Cup in Russia. Jose Mourinho has long held an interest in the Tottenham left-back, who is yet to play a game this season because of injury. United boss Jose Mourinho has already identified Rose as one of his main targets and is confident of landing the England star in a £45m deal. The Blues are also keen on Rose, but the left-back wants a move to United instead because he’s keen to work for Mourinho. A source said: “The lure of United is too strong for him and if he had the choice he would pick United hands down.”

Rose has not played since suffering knee ligament damage in a game at Sunderland in January. He underwent surgery in May and has still not featured for Spurs, but has completed his rehabilitation and is expected to return to training within the next week. While recovering from his operation, Rose stunned Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino when he criticised the club in an interview and insisted he would be open to offers from other teams because he wants bigger wages. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy fined Rose and made him issue a public apology.
Rose penned a new deal with Spurs in September 2016 worth around £75,000-a-week that tied him to the club until 2021. But Manchester United have made it clear he is on their wanted list and Rose knows he can double his wages at Old Trafford. Mourinho has had a problem in the left-back position since he took charge and reckons Rose is the ideal solution. The ex-Chelsea has decided Luke Shaw is not up to scratch, with the forgotten man having made just one EFL Cup appearance this season.

Chelsea have also been linked with Rose in recent months. Left-back has been a problem position for Mourinnho during his Old Trafford reign. Luke Shaw fell out of favour and has played just one game – in the EFL Cup against Burton Albion – this season. Daley Blind started the season at first-choice, but Ashley Young has started their last four matches. Right-back Matteo Darmian has also played a couple of games. Chelsea have long been linked with another left-back to provide competition for Marcos Alonso. Juventus defender Alex Sandro was a top target, but the Blues saw a number of bids for the Brazilian rejected in the summer.
