Diego Costa happy to rejoin Atletico Madrid

Diego Costa was the subject of an agreement in transfer market recently, landed at Spanish capital on Friday, where he was relieved of the outcome of this transfer from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid has dragged on.

Brazilian-born striker has said he’s no longer wanted at the Stamford Bridge and has had a bad relationship with manager Antonio Conte this season. And now he is going to be a part of Atletico players.

“Atletico Madrid is my home and here I am,” Costa told the media on his arrival at Madrid airport.

“I am very happy, I think it took too long but there was a happy ending in the end. Now I’m waiting to see my team-mates and start training.

“There was a bit of apprehension when we saw time passing and things didn’t happen. But Atletico chief executive Miguel Angel Gil made a great effort and I thank him.” he added.

The 28-year-old Spanish striker took the opportunity to regret the way his stay at Chelsea ended, where he won two Premier League and one League Cup.

“It’s not the way I wanted to leave, ever. I have a special affection for the people at Chelsea. I’m not a person who is going to smear the image. They know the person I am,” Costa said.

According to report, Costa will be under his contract until 2021. His  transfer would reach 55 millions euros plus 10 million euros bonus, the biggest transfer in the history for Chelsea and Atletico.

Costa, who will only qualify to play in January 2018 because of the ban of recruitment inflicted on Atletico, said he would take good of the time before to regain form with the favour of the famous physical trainer, Oscar Ortega.

“I’m not in such bad form as what people are saying. I feel good and here we have Ortega which will surely sharpen me in a few days. The scales don’t scare me, his training sessions scare me!” Costa said.

After landing at Madrid airport, Costa is expected to face Chelsea in the Champions League but it is hard for him. However, he presented for Atletico against Sevilla at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday.
