Tundra Esports’ Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen is known to the community for his unorthodox and innovative style of play. From his typical Pugna and Oracle mid, Topson always finds new and interesting ways to play these heroes and is mostly successful with these builds and hero choices.
During the recent PGL Wallachia Season 1 Western European closed qualifier, Robson “TeaGuvnor” Merritt sat down with Tundra Esports’ Topson for a post-match interview. TeaGuvnor also asked about Topson’s opinion about innovation in the Dota 2 community.
During a recent interview with TeaGuvnor at the PGL Wallachia Season 1 Western European closed qualifier, Topson stated that the Dota 2 community is more innovative in builds and hero selection than ever before.
He said, “I think nowadays people are quite innovative, and everything that… I also play. I’m sure a lot of people have done it before like the sniper build from XM, from which team I don’t remember. Apart from that, yeah , support Faceless Void and things like that Yeah, I mean, a lot of these builds are like, seeing something cool and I’m like, ‘Oh, this is a cool idea, maybe I can follow it, huh?’”
He also added “I think a lot of players now are open-minded, so they kind of see those ideas and they either just… I mean, copy them and learn from them or they think they have something to add on top of it, so they make it even better and things like that.”
The Dota 2 community has seen an increase in innovative builds for hero-heroes over the years and this may be due to developments in Dota 2 content creation where several YouTubers and professional players are always creating strange new builds to try out on various heroes.
From Khanda and Divine Rapier rush on Sniper to Spirit Breaker with six movement speed items, everything has become a hot topic of conversation among the community.
