Manchester City beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 in an away match at Molineux Stadium, Tuesday (22/9).
Man City have made the ball almost always in the home area of the game from the first minute. Wolves players are always busy defending.
Wolves’ defense organization is going quite well. Opponents who exert pressure are forced to produce no shot opportunities on goal. It was only in the 11th minute that Kevin De Bruyne’s free-kick shot into the net and was easily anticipated by Rui Patricio.
De Bruyne was only able to beat Patricio through 12 points just right. Man City got a penalty because De Bruyne was violated by Romain Saiss. The Belgian midfielder brought The Citizens 1-0 ahead in the 20th minute.
After the first goal, Pep Guardiola’s men continued to chase the second goal. Entering the 32nd minute, Sterling’s movements and assists made it easier for Foden to hit the ball into an empty net left by the goalkeeper.
Two opportunities for Man City at the end of the first half failed to add goals. Score 2-0 to be the final result of the first half.
Wolves appeared bolder in the second half. No longer holding out, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team overwhelmed Man City through Daniel Podence, Raul Jimenez, and Pedro Neto.
City had a chance when Gabriel Jesus’ hard shot was perfectly captured by Patricio. Then there was a flurry of opportunities from Wolves, first created by Daniel Podence.
Receiving Adama Traore’s pass, Podence opened fire after turning his body which made the ball just barely missed the goal. Then Podence had a second chance with a lob over Ederson’s head, but it ended with a narrow bounce over the bar.
In the midst of Wolves’ effort to score the first goal, Man City kicked off through Jesus, who netted the third in the 73rd minute. However, the score failed to change, the referee annulled it because the offside flag flew.
Four minutes later, Jimenez scored the goal that brought Wolves closer to Man City with a header from Podence’s cross.
When the game counted only a few seconds to break up, Jesus broke into the Wolves goal. The Brazilian opened fire from a tight angle which hit the Wolves player before the ball lodged in the home’s goal for the third time.
